Hello friend! How was your summer? Most of mine was spent putting sunscreen on my kids. I didn’t create much art, and until recently I didn’t want to. I felt drained by the constant chase of new clients, marketing my work, being fueled by a glimmer of hope that my art would actually be seen and purchased. This feels like the beginning of a commercial that proceeds to tell you the ✨answer to all of your problems!✨ But I don’t have it. I can tell you that I found a solution that feels good to me: I started working part-time in a consistent job and have cut my commission work down to almost zero. It feels amazing. It’s a relief to me to have a consistent income stream again, and I have some time to create personal art as well.
In other news:
I got to work with a dream client! I can’t share anything else about it for a long time, so this is a pretty obnoxious update.
We took a short family trip to Disney World. We learned that our oldest daughter absolutely hates roller coasters, but that’s a rite of passage in this family, evidenced in these old photos:
Art News
This little Zebra Finch painting will be listed in an auction through the @artiststakeaction instagram account, run by Lisa Solomon. I’m not quite sure when, but either way it’s worth a look at the account! Lisa curates art for auction and the proceeds go to various charities, usually the auction winner’s choice.
